Agence Française de Développement invites you to their event

Finance in Common Summit Side Event – The Data4Nature initiative

About this event

Data4Nature is an initiative that encourages development actors and their partners to share biodiversity data from projects via the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF). Just five development banks could generate hundreds of thousands of occurrence records annually, filling knowledge gaps in many data-poor developing countries.

Reuse of this data supports scientific research and policy, guides ecosystem preservation and not only fights against biodiversity loss, but also contributes to sustainable development in areas such as food security, climate change and human health.

In this Side Event to the Finance in Common Summit, representatives from GBIF, international development banks and private-sector companies will discuss how and why other actors that generate, publish and use biodiversity data can share this data.
