How to finance life on Earth: a high-level discussion with experts in biodiversity finance

About this event

Join experts on the official launch of ‘The Little Book of Investing in Nature: a simple guide to financing life on Earth’.

As we start 2021, the world knows that it must urgently address the global biodiversity and climate crises. Finance is at a critical juncture, when governments, the private sector and society – must intensify their efforts to protect the natural world. But how much money is needed, how can nature-negative money be re-directed, and where can new money be found?

Against this backdrop, the Agence française de développement, Global Canopy and the Cornell Atkinson Center for Sustainability are delighted to host this timely webinar to discuss the scale of the challenge we face in protecting biodiversity, and the opportunities for finance.

In association with the One Planet Summit, the event marks the official launch of “The Little Book of Investing in Nature” (LBIN) which provides an essential guide to the latest innovations in biodiversity finance, including global, estimates of the future costs of protecting nature and potential sources of finance, drawing on case studies and examples of novel investment approaches from around the world.

The LBIN is published by Global Canopy and supported by AFD, Cornell Atkinson Center for Sustainability, Credit Suisse, IDH the sustainable trade initiative, Mirova, UNDP, UNDP Biofin, WWF, and the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety.
