Academy Workshop - Insuring the Cloud: Navigating Data Centre Liability and Exposure

About this event

Data centres are developing at pace and are emerging as a key aspect of critical national infrastructure across the globe. This session will provide participants with an overview of the exposures posed by data centres and what can be done to mitigate them.

The session will cover:

  • An overview of the different stages of data centre development.
  • The legal and regulatory environment: cybersecurity, critical infrastructure, data localisation and privacy, foreign direct investment / export controls, licensing and other permissions.
  • The “real world” insurance risks: cyber breaches, business continuity, environmental liability, damage to assets, employee safety.
  • Potentially responsive insurance policies.
  • Practical steps to maximise potential coverage.

By the end of the session, you will be able to:

  • Summarise the key stages of data centre projects
  • Identify key legal and regulatory issues
  • Explain which insurance policies might be responsive to data centre exposures.
