For many EU businesses, the upcoming European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) pose a challenge as they must include data from their entire supply chain. For logistics professionals, this means expanding the scope of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reporting to include their whole transportation network.

Maja Piecyk is a Professor in Logistics at the University of Westminster and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She leads the University of Westminster’s input to the EPSRC-funded Centre for Sustainable Road Freight and Decarbonizing the UK’s Freight Transport network. Her recent projects include Freight Traffic Control 2050, the Volvo Centre of Excellence in Sustainable Urban Freight Systems, and CityLab: City Logistics in Living Laboratories. Her research focuses on environmental performance and sustainability of freight transport operations, with current work on city logistics, CSR, GHG auditing of businesses and forecasting long-term trends in energy demand and environmental impacts of logistics.
