BuildSoft invites you to their event

Steel verification of custom built cross-sections in Diamonds

About this event

We go over the parameters needed for the steel verification to enter when creating a custom steel cross-section, using Section Utility.

Section Utility is the built-in section generator of Diamonds, in which you can compose cross sections with an arbitrary shape, consisting of one or more materials. Often, in steel structures, built up or compound sections are used to increase the strenght for bending, shear, torsion, ... . One way of forming a built-up section is by adding plates to the flange or to the web. Another method is to compound a number of rolled steel sections themselves.

The steel design verification for these kinds of sections is not possible without additional information from the user.

What you will learn

  • How regular parametric cross-sections are treated
  • How to create a user-defined built-up cross-section
  • Parameters required by the user for a steel verification
  • Where to fill them out in Diamonds
  • Where to find them in Eurocode
  • How to calculate them
