About this event
During this time of Covid 19, it is even more important to get outside. Nature play is an invaluable resource that supports a child’s immune system, physical activity, and social emotional needs. Isolation within our homes has kept us safe but has also increased our sedentary behaviour and screen time for all age groups. Now we need to balance that with physical activity and sensory input that the outdoors can safely provide. Using the outdoors as the ‘third teacher’ allows educators and children to remain healthy and engaged while having fun. In this workshop we will examine what can be done outside in your playground and beyond, allowing children to easily respect social distancing and stay safe. The use of loose parts and adapting how we use and view the space will be critical to the success of using the outdoors and providing the many benefits of getting outside.
Child Development Resource Connection Peel (CDRCP) connects the community and practitioners with the information, resources, training and services that promote quality family life.
