We all needs friends. Children need friends and educators need friends. Having a professional friendship can be an important and impactful life long experience. Professional friends provide an opportunity for collaborative reflection and inquiry. Examining the concept of professional friendship in parallel with reflecting on children’s peer to peer relationships deepens reflections and understandings about the importance of friendships. We can and we should intentionally cultivate friendships in early childhood education!
