CDRCP invites you to their event

From Vicarious Trauma to Vicarious Resilience

About this event

Hearing and engaging with difficult and disturbing stories from children and families can lead to vicarious trauma. Vicarious trauma involves the transformation of an educator's inner experience and world view. The concept of vicarious resilience (coined by researchers Hernandez, Gangsei and Enstrom in 2007) demonstrates that the educator's transformation may also be a healing experience. We will explore how the concept of vicarious resilience can be a useful tool for working with children and families.

In this presentation, participants will learn:

  • what vicarious trauma is and how it can impact educators
  • what vicarious resilience is
  • applications for vicarious resilience in childcare settings
