Abstract: With the advance of science and technology, digital transformation is inevitable in the construction industry. Under the vigorous BIM implementation of government policies, the Chevalier group as a multi-disciplines construction and engineering stakeholders in the industry involved in adopting and developing BIM technology in both building construction and MEP installation into projects. Through experience in build-up 3D construction models, 4D animation productions for construction logistics, MEP co-ordinations and installation works in a virtual environment since 2017. Useful working schemes and methods were worked out successfully through cooperation and integration of BIM uses from different trades in the projects. As the result, using BIM can greatly improve the fluency of project delivery.

In the aspect of asset management in MEP installation, an asset database in BIM of a residential development project will be introduced. Useful project information and maintenance data stored in the model become merits for future facility management.

Use of BIM as a tool for design and coordination was adopted in several Southa projects even though BIM was not a contract requirement. Subsequently, DfMA coupled with BIM was employed in Southa projects for programme crashing and minimizing re-work.

Ir K. F. CHAN, who is also an Honorary Principal Lecturer at the University of Hong Kong, will share his experience in promoting a paradigm shift in adoption of such new technology.
