ABOUT SPEAKERS

Ir CK WONG

Ir WONG Chi Kwong is now the Vice President of Building Engineering (MEP) Hong Kong of AECOM. He is a building services engineer with over 40 years of experience in the construction field. He was the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Construction Innovation and Technology Application Centre (CITAC) when it was newly established under the Construction Industry Council (CIC) from April 2017 to September 2017. He is now serving the Construction Industry Council as a Board Member of the CITAC and the Chairman of the Advanced Construction Technologies Vetting Sub-committee of the Construction Innovation and Technology Fund (CITF).

Mr Dale SINCLAIR

Director of Innovation at AECOM, Dale’s core expertise is delivering game-changing, interdisciplinary workflow, leveraging modern methods of construction and digital technologies, into large scale projects. A qualified architect for 30+ years, he was lead author of the RIBA Plan of Work 2013 publications as well as the recent RIBA Plan of Work 2020 Overview. He has published a number of books on DfMA, design management and reinvigorating the lead designer role for the digital age. He is an RIBA Ambassador for Collaboration, sits on the board of the UK Construction Industry Council and was recently described as a pragmatic futurist.

Mr Alan CLUCAS

Alan has over 35 years’ experience in offsite construction at Director level in technical, operational and business development roles related to offsite manufacture and the promotion of new construction strategies. For 12 years Alan was a Director of Explore Manufacturing, the offsite manufacturing business within the Laing O’Rourke Group developing and delivering innovative offsite manufactured solutions for major projects in the residential, building and infrastructure sectors. Alan retired from Laing O’Rourke in 2019, setting up a business consultancy and continues to advise them and Bryden Wood on offsite construction related matters. Alan was also Chairman of the panel that developed a trailblazer apprenticeship standard for a Construction Assembly & Installation Operative for the UK offsite industry.

Mr Paul NEWBY

Paul Newby joined SES Engineering Services in March 2012. Paul is the technical authority for the business and is responsible for design, BIM & digital engineering and project performance.

With over 30 years' experience in the industry in consultancy and contracting, he has an extensive knowledge of all aspects of integrated design, digital engineering & BIM and building physics engineering. Paul is an advocate and champion of preconstruction and collaborative working. He is passionate about integrated project delivery, using design management to drive teams embracing the realities of digital engineering, creating customer focused solutions and project efficiencies.

Mr Lewis JONES

Lewis Jones has held the role of General Manager of Prism Offsite Manufacturing for the last three years, SES Engineering Services’ manufacturing facility specialising in mechanical and electrical offsite products.

His association with offsite manufacturing commenced in 1998 with the use of a bathroom pod solution for a multi-storey residential development in Canary Wharf, London and has been a committed advocate of the strategy since that time. He has held managerial roles in offsite manufacturing facilities producing bathroom pods, panelised wall systems and latterly MEP offsite manufactured products. He was a member of the Advanced Manufacturing Supply Chain Initiative (AMSCI), a UK government-backed scheme assessing the feasibility and developing products for manufacturing modular housing units on a semi-automated production line.

Mr Paul COLLINS

Paul Collins joined the Prism Offsite Manufacturing team as BIM Project Leader in February 2020, responsible for project management and offsite delivery. Paul has 15+ years of offsite engineering experience working across a variety of industries including Retail, Residential, Healthcare, Education and Public Sector. Paul is also an active member of the West Midlands BIM region.

Paul has an expert understanding of operations in the Construction sector with skills in BIM, Design for Manufacture (DfMA), Building Services Design, Project Management and Technical Engineering. In recent years Paul has been focusing on delivering cutting-edge BIM solutions which makes him a key asset to the Prism team.

Mr Chris LEE

Chris Lee is currently a Deputy Project Director and has been working for BYME Engineering (HK) Ltd since 2004 which is part of the Bouygues Group. Chris has worked within the group for over 18 years and has worked in the MEP field since he arrived in Hong Kong in 1997. Chris has been involved in a wide spectrum of large/mega, fast track, private and public construction projects. The latest advancements in technology and social media has demanded ever increasing data storage and Chris is now also involved in turnkey, fast track, mission critical Data Centre retrofit and deployment. Knowledge and experiences gained over the course of his 22 year career are continually evolving and he applies this to his latest projects to ensure that all project stakeholders, ranging from suppliers to contractors to clients to financiers, are able to produce and enjoy a timely, safe and high end result.

ABOUT FACILITATOR

Ir Dr. Sam HUI

Ir Dr. Sam C. M. Hui is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, the University of Hong Kong. He is a Chartered Engineer (CEng) in building services engineering, a Certified Energy Manager (CEM), a Building Energy Modeling Professional (BEMP), and a High-performance Building Design Professional (HBDP). He has extensive teaching experience in building services engineering and has 30 years research experience in the study of building energy efficiency and sustainable building technology.
