About this event
Construction has a long record of low productivity, with the annual productivity growth being only 1% over the past 20 years. The industry has been facing an increasingly ageing workforce, and a tendency to lag in innovation and in the adoption of advanced technologies. To make construction more efficient, and safer, the sector needs to embrace new technologies and invest in research and innovation.
The UK Research and Innovation’s Transforming Construction Challenge is investing £170 million, matched by an industry commitment of £250 million, to accelerate innovation and help shift the construction sector to new ways of working.
This webinar is co-organised by the Construction Industry Council and the ICE Hong Kong Association, and supported by the UK Department for International Trade. In this webinar, we are delighted to invite Mr Sam STACEY, the Challenge Director – Transforming Construction at Innovate UK, to share with us his insight into how accelerating the development and commercialisation of digital and manufacturing technologies to support a more efficient, highly-skilled and productive construction industry. Also, Mr Dev AMRATIA, the CEO of nPlan, will share with us how they use artificial intelligence (AI) and algorithms to better predict, plan, and schedule construction projects. The AI project carried out by nPlan, Kier, and the University of Cambridge, has been awarded the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund for research and innovation projects.
