Webinar on Updates and Cases Sharing of CIC R&D Fund (BIM-related) Product: "BIM-Automation of Prescribed checking for General Building Plans (GBP) Preparation"

Innovation is of great importance to the sustainable development of the Hong Kong construction industry. Therefore, the Construction Industry Council (CIC) has established the Research and Technology Development (R&D) Fund to provide financial support for research projects which can improve the performance and competitiveness of the industry.

"BIM-Automation of Gross Floor Area (GFA) Calculation, Fire Safety and Prescribed Checking for General Building Plans (GBP) Preparation" is one of the R&D projects funded by CIC and the Urban Renewal Authority (URA) in 2021. The project was conducted by Building Information Technology Limited and led by an Authorised Person experienced architect.

This webinar will discuss the experiences and updates about the R&D product, a BIM plugin software. Industry stakeholders will also share their experiences and feedbacks on the product as well as their views on BIM-automation tools.

Highlight of the research project and the BIM plugin software:

• The first available BIM plugin software based on Hong Kong regulations and practices to automatically calculate and check GFA, Means of Escape, and Sanitary Fitments etc., and generate related plans for BD submission.
• Successfully addressed all comments from the project working group comprised of BD, ArchSD, Housing Department, ICU, LandsD and URA.
• The product is Free for eligible architectural firms(#) and 50% discount for others.

(#) Free one license for one year for eligible firms until 31 December 2022.
