How can new developments in green energy production and energy storage bring game changing answers to the defense sector?

During this roundtable discussion, experts will examine how, from production to storage and waste management, the progressive transformation of energy supply is at the heart of the sector's research and development strategies, driving dynamism throughout the ecosystem.

Our panel of international experts will share :

  • Best practices and alternatives for shaping a more sustainable and resilient energy future,
  • European and national initiatives, actively working to implement tangible and sustainable changes, integrating the operational prerequisites of the forces.

    Tom Middendorp Chief of Defense of the Netherlands (Ret) |Chair, International IMCCS @ International Military Council on Climate and Security

    General Tom Middendorp, Chief of Defence of the Netherlands (Ret) is the Chair of the International Military Council on Climate and Security (IMCCS). Previously, he served as the Netherlands Chief of Defense for five and a half years and after 38 years of serving his country. He commanded troops at all levels, led a large multinational taskforce in the south of Afghanistan and was involved in over twenty different military missions as the Director of Operations. General Middendorp has extensive operational and strategic experience of building unity of effort with different nations, governments, companies, and many other stakeholders in order to deal with a wide range of security risks. His current occupation as an independent senior expert on defense and security allows him to continue his work on the impact of climate change on the security environment and on the role the military can play in addressing climate change.

    Constantinos Hadjisavvas Project Officer Energy @ European Defence Agency

    Dr. Constantinos Hadjisavvas has more than two decades of professional experience and education in defence and security. He has held key positions in Europe and abroad, overseeing various topics, including defence policy, military capability development, sustainable energy, climate change, hybrid threats and conflict analysis. He has published and edited books and articles in Greek and English on subjects related to his field research and work. He has also chaired and spoken at several prominent events and delivered lectures at different universities. Throughout his career, Dr. Hadjisavvas has acquired skills in defence planning, crisis management, decision-making, negotiations, and leadership. He has collaborated with numerous EU institutions and international organizations, leveraging his expertise to achieve successful outcomes.

    Raphaël Danino-Peraud Major @ Operational Energy Service (SEO) | French Ministry of Armed Forces

    Major Raphaël Danino-Perraud is a commissioned officer from the Operational Energy Service (SEO) and is posted at the French General Staff. He also works as an independent consultant for the French Ministry of ecology. Finally, he is a part-time lecturer at French engineering school such as Centrale Supélec and École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées (ENPC). Raphaël Danino-Perraud is graduated from Sciences-Po Lyon (2012) in International Relations and in business intelligence. From 2016 to 2020, he performed a PhD in resource economics at the University of Orléans (LEO) and the French Geological Survey (BRGM).
