Forget It: The Science of Learning

Research in the field of Cognitive Science has been ongoing for centuries but for a long time, there has been a disconnect between the work Cognitive Scientists are doing in the laboratory and what goes on in the classroom. Over the past few years, policymakers, school leaders and teachers have become more aware of research in education with researchers and teachers working together for the first time to explore research-based principles and how they can be used to have a positive impact on learning in the classroom.

With this new interest, Cognitive Science (in particular) has become more of a talking point among teachers. This session, led by Stuart Welsh, will explore what we know about memory and how we can incorporate research-based principles into day-to-day teaching to bring about deeper and more durable learning.
