Justin Merritt is Senior Director, Solutions Consulting at Planful, where he’s worked for over 3 years leveraging technology to drive improvements across finance and accounting. He came to Planful after a decade-long career in FP&A, having held finance roles at IBM, Verizon, and Oshkosh Corporation. Justin currently serves as an adjunct business faculty in the business department at Rochester Community and Technical College.

He heads up a finance department that consists of 240 people across the world, looking after all financial activity from budgeting and accounting to auditing and tax. He is an expert in finance transformation, having been instrumental in the process at WebBeds during Covid - helping the company avert a potential disaster. He helped merge four mid-sized departments into one streamlined one, reducing costs and inefficiencies, and placing more of a focus on tech, with the introduction of AI and machine learning a crucial part of this.

Dr Clare Walsh is one of the world’s leading academic voices in data analytics and AI with her mission at the IoA being to help people in any field feel empowered by technology and understand its benefits. Having worked alongside Professor Tim Berners-Lee and Dame Wendy Hall, she was also an academic tutor at the University of Southampton’s Data Science Academy and during this time, worked for the Government as a researcher within the Office of AI. Clare contributed to the recently-published Government White Paper on AI Regulation, has published peer reviewed research papers and is often called upon as an expert witness to advise governments in complex legal cases.
