CORESTA invites you to their event

Tobacco Plant Breeding

About this event

Plant breeding is a specialised discipline within the broader plant science realm. It requires knowledge of the crop including its growth habits, flower type, disease concerns, end-use, etc.  In this Webinar, an explanation will be provided for the basic terminology, methods and timelines involved in successfully creating a new tobacco variety.  It will also link the testing of new varieties back to the webinar presented in 2025, titled “Techniques for Successful Applied Tobacco Field Research.”  This will include special considerations for field testing, based on the type of tobacco and the varying stages of the breeding process, and how this impacts the field trial design.
