Canvas x Designlab: Diversity in Design

Canvas is a fast growing startup whose mission is to make the world more equitable through providing a collaborative talent marketplace that provides opportunity for underrepresented talent in tech. The design team at Canvas is 100% composed of underrepresented humans, and their unique journeys as professional product designers help inform the way they think about their product. 

In this webinar, you’ll learn how to:

You’ll hear from four members of the Canvas team: Gabby Manotoc, Director of Product Design; Courtney Sabo, Product Design Lead, Growth; Sarah Gorman, Senior Product Designer; and Edgar Vargas, Senior Product Designer.

• Gabby leads all things design for the #1 Diversity Recruiting Platform. Previously, she worked at LinearFT, an early-stage fintech company that helped small businesses get access to funding. Before that, she built her skills on the agency-side of design, working at global companies R/GA and Kin + Carta. In her spare time, she enjoys caring for her two rescue dogs and 50-something plants that are taking over her tiny NYC apartment.
• Courtney focuses on candidate growth and engagement. She was a co-founder and Chief Product Officer of Kopa, a YC-backed startup for monthly rentals in the US. Before that, she worked at digital design agencies in San Francisco and Philadelphia, working for clients including Apple, Delta Dental, David's Bridal, and TEDx. Courtney is currently a digital nomad and has spent the last 8 months living in cities and towns across the US and Canada. 
• Sarah specifically works on the recruiter experience. She’s spent the last eight years working at a wide variety of company types: Dialpad, Expedia Group, a few early-stage startups, and a UX agency. Sarah currently lives in Los Angeles where she enjoys baking things, bad reality TV, and every dog she sees.
• Edgar focuses on sourcing and analytics. Prior to joining Canvas, he worked at several start-ups in the social media, and cloud enterprise space. Before that, he worked at a design agency whose clients included Google, Apple, and AirBnb among others. Currently, Edgar lives in Portland, Oregon where he likes to explore the outdoors, and the art and music scene.
