Course description:

Many of the conditions and pathologies in the elderly population that present to the physical medicine and rehabilitation clinician can negatively influence movement patterns. It is also common that the elderly present with more than one morbidity. The purpose of this course is to provide an overview of movement assessment evaluation in the care management of the elderly population. There will be discussion on common strategies that can be determined and evaluated with technology as well as implemented to follow the intervention progress.

Course objectives:

At the completion of this course the participants will be able to:

  • Define how locomotion is a multi-systems assessment to human motion.
  • Describe the aspects of motor control and the influence on categorizing for various disorders.
  • Describe the common comorbidities and movement dysfunction in the elderly.
  • Describe how technology can be used to have a positive impact on clinical practice and patient outcomes
