Rethinking our cities for a post-covid world

About this event

In partnership with

In the past 12 months, the UK has witnessed businesses in every industry face the unexpected challenges of a global pandemic. While some industries have thrived during these difficult times, others have suffered due to loss of sales, trade restrictions, decreased demand, and limited availability of goods, services, and even workers.

As we know, the construction industry has been hit particularly hard by the effects of COVID-19, with government guidelines putting a stop to construction work in earlier 2020. Fortunately, construction was allowed to continue from May last year, but has the industry actually seen any real recovery yet?

In this panel debate, we look at how COVID-19 has specifically affected our cities and their urban landscape. Unquestionably, COVID-19 has had a profound impact on our cities and has led to a need to rethink the dimensions of our cities from a social, cultural, economic, and environmental perspective.

As the vaccines are gradually deployed across the UK, a post-COVID future is in sight, one where people can go back to some form of normality, however, our cities will need help and space to ensure their purpose fits this new normal.

Hear from our industry front line panel on how offices, infrastructure, retail, and hospitality spaces will need to be transformed, what this means for construction and the built environment, will the imminent need to re-build, retro-fit and re-design be the catalyst to the recovery we very much need?
