About this event
This webinar will give an overview of two key theoretical elements that underpin Montessori philosophy and practice for early childhood teachers - the Absorbent Mind and the Sensitive Periods.
The Absorbent Mind has two phases - unconscious and conscious. First a child will effortlessly pick up new information about their environments then later they will start acting with purpose in their interactions with people and their environments.
A Sensitive Period is a crucial limited time when a young child has a natural and intense desire to learn and practice a new skill.
Our host Cathy Wilson, CEO of Montessori Aotearoa New Zealand (MANZ) will teach you how knowing and being aware of these elements and stages will better assist you in following each child in his or her early developmental progress.
