Including Diverse Voices in Learning Stories - SALSA Presents #7

About this event

By Dr. Annie White and Dr. Isauro Escamilla

Please join Annie for the next webinar in the 2021 series on the new SALSA book, Learning Stories and Teacher Inquiry Groups.

Chapter 6

— Family Engagement and Learning Stories: Inclusion of Diverse Voices

Multiple examples of learning stories show varied ways that teachers can invite members of extended families and children to participate in the process.

This webinar details strategies for allowing families to engage with learning stories in their home languages and literacies, and to contribute their own ideas, feelings, dictation, writing, and photographs to the learning stories.

Annie will especially emphasize the value of family members directly engaging with their young children around learning stories, and of co-creating a response to learning stories together.
