The Role of Narrative in Learning Stories as Authentic Assessment and Critical Pedagogy
Learning stories are an effective way to observe and document small moments of learning and growth for young children, and provide teachers with a highly adaptable assessment tool that can be aligned with both site-specific and program curricular and assessment goals and measures.
Learning Stories and Teacher Inquiry Groups, Reimagining Teaching and Assessment in Early Childhood Education in North America is co-authored by SALSA members - Annie White, Isauro Michael Escamilla, Linda Kroll and Daniel Meier. It is being published by NAEYC and due for release around June, 2021. The book can be pre-ordered on Amazon here.
SALSA is a non-profit Learning Story advocacy group. Learn more and/or join SALSA here. Educa is a proud sponsor of SALSA, supporting their Pacific Northwest Conference and partnering to present the national virtual conference in October.
