About this event

Federal funding for infrastructure projects has been cut, frozen or delayed by the new Administration and although there are still state and regional funds available for infrastructure upgrade, renewal or replacement, there is significant uncertainty over the viability of future infrastructure projects.

With a continuing need to invest in infrastructure assets to ensure they are resilient to a changing climate and serve the social and economic needs of this, and future generations, alternative financing options must be found, including private-public partnerships and innovative sustainable finance products that can de-risk investments & facilitate infrastructure development opportunities.

This webinar will help navigate this uncertainty and the complex funding landscape, exploring alternative sources of finance and mechanisms for financing, enabling, and delivering infrastructure projects. Two panels of experts will discuss a range of topics including:

Part One: Navigating the Uncertainty around Federal & State Funding and How to Access it

  • Summarising the effect of “stop work orders” issued to prime contractors and their recipients, as well as subcontractors in the wider supply chain
  • Outlining the status of existing IIJA & IRA funding and how to access it
  • Clarifying alternative funding tools available and optimizing access to them:
  • gaining timely access to fund allocations and bid cycles
  • understanding funding priorities and eligibilities
  • identifying public and private sector partners who can enable projects to advance

Part Two: Unlocking Alternative Funding Mechanisms

  • Incentivising investment - building the business case and making the project “attractive” to investors in the private sector:
  • quantifying the ROI for projects with a longer or more complex payback timeline e.g. nature-based solutions or low emissions buildings
  • Closing the infrastructure funding gap: exploring novel ways of financing infrastructure projects
  • Funding is not just dollars on a spreadsheet - actively engaging stakeholders in funding decisions
