Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) and Environmental Net Gain (ENG) for Brownfield Sites

This Brownfield & Regeneration Network workshop will explain the concepts of Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) and Environmental Net Gain (ENG) in the context of brownfield remediation.

The webinar will cover the following:

• How the need to deliver BNG may affect redevelopment of brownfield land
• How BNG may be an opportunity for green end use of PDL
• Calculating net gains: the new Defra metric 3.0 and small sites metric
• ENG, Natural Capital and other emerging areas of environment policy

Stephanie Wray, Managing Director, Nature Positive, an RSK Company

Stephanie Wray is the founder of Nature Positive, a specialist management consultancy that helps organisations to understand the business risks associated with their dependence or impact on the natural environment. She is an expert biodiversity and sustainability consultant with over 25 years’ experience in the assessment of the impacts of major infrastructure projects and corporate biodiversity footprinting. She has worked in the UK, Europe, Africa and the Middle East and in diverse sectors including energy, oil and gas, mining, construction, manufacturing and retail.

Before joining RSK, Stephanie was Global Environment Director for Hyder Consulting, now known as Arcadis. She has also held a number of strategic consulting roles at organisations including National Grid. A past president and fellow of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM), Stephanie is chair of CIEEM’s Strategic Policy Panel, which coordinates all of the institute’s policy activities throughout the UK and Ireland, and is called on to provide environmental advice to ministers, select committees and government departments.
