IGNITION - Financing Urban Nature-Based Solutions to the Climate Emergency

About this event

We all want to be able to deliver commercially financed pipelines of nature-based solutions; projects which address the climate emergency and also provide wider benefits. There are great social, environmental and also commercial benefits from this, but how do we transition to a situation where this is the norm?

The Greater Manchester IGNITION project is a multi-partner, innovation project working across government, academia, business and communities to establish innovative ways of financing nature-based solutions (NBS) that build urban resilience to climate change.

This webinar will provide an overview of the progress to date in progressing towards a point where investment in NBS is business as usual, including:

  • The development of an NBS evidence base which brings together over 1000 sources of data to demonstrate the range of environmental, social and economic benefits of various NBS
  • The creation of a living lab to further inform and build confidence in investment in NBS
  • Progress towards establishing a strategic outline case for investment in SuDS in non-domestic properties
  • The lessons learnt and ongoing challenges of translating value flows of NBS into financial flows that deliver return on investment.
