About this event
Transport connects people, cultures, cities, countries and continents. It is one of the main pillars of modern societies and economies, allowing movement of food, products and people across the country. Transport networks also provide access to key public services, such as education and health, contributing to a better quality of life. These connections help advance the economy in remote areas, creating jobs and spreading wealth.
Climate change is one of the most pressing issues of our time. It is already having significant impact on a multitude of transport assets and infrastructure providers across the UK. The effect of weather on transport is multi-faceted and cross-boundary. In this session, WSP will explore from different lenses the resilience of the transport systems within the UK. With a focus on the key pillars of design, operation and maintenance.
