Cybersecurity Mapping 2026 - The Cost of Autonomy

About this event

The Cost of Autonomy: Can Europe afford digital sovereignty?

Online webinar · 4 November 2026 · 11:00–12:00 CEST · Hosted by the European Champions Alliance

Digital sovereignty used to be about where your data is stored. Today it covers the whole product stack: who built your software, who runs your identity systems, who could switch off a service overnight, and, increasingly, who owns the AI models you rely on. With EU law turning these questions into concrete obligations, European organisations face a hard question: how do they reduce dependency without losing their competitive edge?

This webinar argues that Europe can afford sovereignty if it treats it as risk management and market-building, not isolation. Three experts look at the issue from three angles:

Andreas Walbrodt, CEO and co-founder of Enclaive, on how confidential computing lets organisations keep control of their data on any cloud.

Mike Small, Senior Analyst at KuppingerCole, on which dependencies matter most, what the market offers as alternatives, and what switching really costs.

Roland Atoui, founder and managing partner of Red Alert Labs, on what the Cyber Resilience Act means for manufacturers and where security by design becomes an advantage.

The panel will look at what sovereignty means now, the risks that get less attention (such as losing a service altogether), and concrete first steps to reduce dependency. You can put your own questions to the panel in the live Q&A.
