As the government is calling on companies and local authorities to innovate for rail freight, some shippers have already taken a definite step in the direction of digitization. In order to accelerate the transition to low-carbon transport, the image and performance of rail freight must be restored. Ciments Calcia understood this need.
Ciments Calcia (Heidelberg Cement France) is a major player in the French cement industry. The company has been using a TMS (Transport Management System) dedicated to rail since 2019 to plan and monitor their shipments.
Nicolas Plouviez, the company's logistics manager, will give us his feedback on this digitalisation. He will be accompanied by Valérie Cornet, land transport delegate at AUTF (Association des Utilisateurs de Transports de Fret), who will give us insights into the shippers community as a whole.
