The Impact of COVID-19 on Supply Chains and Food Safety

About this webinar

THE IMPACT OF COVID-19 ON SUPPLY CHAINS AND FOOD SAFETY

The novel coronavirus sweeping the globe has exposed how vulnerable international supply chains are to disruption. However, crisis often provides opportunity. As a result of quarantines and lockdowns, global supply chains are being replaced by local chains (ex. food supply). But while the world’s food system has so far weathered the challenge of COVID-19, visibility is crucial, and local suppliers are lacking a proper data sharing model, leading to 'information chaos'.

This webinar will bring together trusted global supply chain and food industry experts (farmers, cooperatives, supermarkets and retailers) to explore the current challenges and describe how a new AIOTI-developed program navigate the “new normal” of rerouting to local supply chains, and how it has had a huge impact on ecological footprints and air quality.

During this webinar, we will examine:

  • How AIOTI program resolves supply chain rerouting issues by mapping existing meta data ontologies while adding new COVID related items.
  • How European commission is scaling up existing funding for solutions to help end-users navigate the global food Industry/supply chain challenges caused by the COVID pandemic.
  • The proposed solution is a baseline and its target can be summarized as to “Enable data discovery” for multiple cross-domain issues in the markets, caused by the COVID lockdown. Managed metadata lakes are used to expose machine readable data repositories, reports and dashboards and to enable data discovery and AI
  • The international impact and opportunity of this program. Although based on local implementations, the use of digital technologies plays a strong role in enabling sustainability of the agri-food sector. Learn how deployment currently focuses on Europe with international opportunities (Canada, US, Africa)

Is a set of webinars hosted by the IOTSWC and the IIC to be held during 2020 and 2021 where IOT, AI and machine learning experts will discuss the digital transformation and the coming future after the COVID-19 pandemic. Check out our webinar programming.
