Fashion Webinar: Sustainable Fashion: prepare your company for EU policy

About this event

Fashion is one of the most polluting and socially problematic industries globally. To tackle environmental and social risks spread along the supply chain, the EU is taking action in upcoming legislation. Join us to explore the implications of this for fashion SMEs!

The EU Green Deal, EPR or Extended Producer Responsibility, Due Diligence, Circularity, Sustainable Textile Action Plan... What do all these concepts mean for actors in the Belgian fashion industry and why should you know more about it? On March 11, Flanders DC, MAD Brussels, WBDM and The Shift are organizing a webinar on the implications of the EU Strategy for sustainable textiles for fashion companies.

The webinar will first seek to better understand the basics of EU policy terminology relating to fashion and why and to what extent it could apply to Belgian companies. We will then explore two particularly important topics:

1) EPR - Extended Producer Responsibility, i.e. the art of designing a product for a circular life and taking responsibility for your items, even after your sale to the customer, and

2) Due Diligence, i.e. the art of tracing the textile supply chain and taking action to limit social and environmental risks.

Participants will leave enlightened; with a virtual bag full of tips, inspiring examples, tools and guidelines to prepare for upcoming legislation; and, last but not least, the determination to take action for a more sustainable fashion industry.

The language of this webinar is English.
