The insurance industry in New Zealand has been very challenging in 2023 with not one, but two “once in a hundred-year” weather events with Cyclone Gabrielle in Feb and further devastating floods in May. Many insurance companies have struggled with the sheer volume of claims, which was further exacerbated since many staff could not get into the call centre to handle claims due to flooding.

In this Tech Talk, Aine Molloy, Platform Engineering Manager at Tower Insurance in New Zealand, shares how Tower are almost four years into their “claims transformation” journey of running a digital cloud-based insurance and policy management system. Aine will share how their cloud-based claims & policy platform helped Tower to support their customers in their hour of need.
