MEET THE HOST...

Mike Goldwater, Furncare

Mike will host Dementia Matters. He’s a communications consultant, broadcaster and public speaker. With almost four decades of experience, Mike has worked with some of the world’s highest profile brands in the UK and overseas. He joined the Furncare team in early 2023. Mike was involved in the creation and marketing of Remini - the recently launched Furncare dementia collection


MEET THE PANELISTS!

Ruth French, Operations Director at Stow Healthcare

Operations Director for Stow Healthcare, a family run group of award winning care homes. Ruth was awarded the prestigious title of Rising Star in the 2021 Laing Buisson awards. She also led Stow Healthcare to achieve the title of Care Provider of the Year in 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 across various national awards. Last year, Ruth mobilised the launch of Stow Healthcare’s second specialist memory centre, and is also a Non-Executive Director of the Outstanding Society.


Claire Peart, Lead Dementia Specialist at Barchester Healthcare

Claire qualified as a nurse over 20 years ago and has worked in various roles including Head of a Complex Dementia Unit. Claire is now Lead Dementia Specialist for Barchester Healthcare, where the team look at ways to improve residents’ quality of life using specialist technology and tools that are important for adapting to life with dementia. “We work very hard to ensure our residents living with dementia live to their full potential”.


Paul Gaskell, Director of Dementia Care at Runwood Homes

Paul has been a Registered Mental Health nurse since 1987, specialising in dementia care. For Runwood Group, Paul now leads exclusively on dementia care and actively strives to develop the care home teams’ knowledge and skills. Paul leads by example, and in 2022 was included in the Care Home Professional Power List, and has also developed and implemented ‘SPACE’ – an innovative model for dementia care.


David Wilson-Wynne, Senior Dementia Consultant at Dementia Services Development Centre

Before taking up his current post at DSDC, David was a lead clinical trainer with Allied Scotland, an NHS dementia specialist and a dementia lead in the care home sector. He graduated with an MSc (Dementia) from the University of Stirling, and has researched, developed and teaches undergraduate dementia modules.

David also advises clients on dementia policy, practice and research, and shares his experience by speaking at national and international conferences.


Lynsey Hutchinson, Senior Interior Designer at University of Sterling

Lynsey originally trained in the world renowned Mackintosh building at the Glasgow School of Art, and has since worked with housing associations and care providers.

In 2016, Lynsey joined the University of Stirling, using her skills in space planning, product design and FF&E specification to deliver the DSDC’s Product Accreditation service, and is an approved auditor for the University of Stirling’s internationally renowned DSDC Building Accreditation service - the ‘Stirling Gold Award’.


Jade Eaglen, Projects Design Manager at Furncare

Jade qualified with a degree in Interior Design from Anglia Ruskin University a decade ago, where she was able to develop and follow her interest in the design of care community interiors. Now an integral part of the Furncare Special Projects Team, Jade has already helped to design and coordinate several high profile installations in residential homes across the UK.
