About this event
The decentralization of the energy system as a result of the efforts to achieve climate protection goals primarily on the basis of renewable energies gives AI a key function that determines the overall success of the energy transition.
In recent years the domain of AI has also been characterized by the scientific and theoretical exploration of possible applications. Coupled with a hype potential, also supported by the media and a naturally rather euphoric start-up scene, there is now a prevailing awareness in the industry that without AI the energy future is hardly manageable. However, that a practice-oriented testing process is becoming indispensable in order to objectively test the use for the various fields of application in the energy industry.
Additional new challenges and opportunities for AI solutions arise from the health and economic crisis the world is currently facing due to the Corona pandemic. AI solutions can drive the development of new products and services that can, for example, modernize healthcare, secure logistics chains or transform production systems.
Within the framework of European cooperation in the field of AI, the French and German Ministries of the Economy have launched a Franco-German call for projects aimed at boosting the supply of AI solutions for risk prevention, crisis management and resilience. The projects will notably be able to respond to the problems linked to these three fields of application:
Projects dealing with cross-cutting issues, such as data sharing or the creation of synergies based on existing infrastructures such as GAIA-X, are also possible.
Operated by Bpifrance and DLR Projektträger, the development of the European AI ecosystem should be at the centre of the joint projects. The aim is to strengthen Europe's economic sovereignty and make the economy more resilient. Science and industry will work together in the new AI innovation projects.
