AI for Environment: Preparing the French-German joint call for projects

About this event

1-hour session to deep dive into the topic of artificial intelligence (AI) for the Environment and get information on the current French-German joint call for projects on AI

CONTEXT

AI for Environment

Fighting against climate change, protecting biodiversity, using fewer resources and producing less waste are measures that contribute to crisis prevention, but also to a society more resilient to future crises and to a more competitive economy. The use of technology, especially AI, has its place in the fight against pollution and global warming.

French-German joint call for projects on AI

Additional new challenges and opportunities for AI solutions arise from the health and economic crisis the world is currently facing due to the Corona pandemic. AI solutions can drive the development of new products and services that can, for example, modernize healthcare, secure logistics chains or transform production systems.

Within the framework of European cooperation in the field of AI, the French and German Ministries of the Economy have launched a Franco-German call for projects aimed at boosting the supply of AI solutions for risk prevention, crisis management and resilience. The projects will notably be able to respond to the problems linked to these three fields of application:

  • Environment
  • Health
  • Economy

Projects dealing with cross-cutting issues, such as data sharing or the creation of synergies based on existing infrastructures such as GAIA-X, are also possible.

Operated by Bpifrance and DLR Projektträger, the development of the European AI ecosystem should be at the centre of the joint projects. The aim is to strengthen Europe's economic sovereignty and make the economy more resilient. Science and industry will work together in the new AI innovation projects.
