ISMIE Risk Management invites you to their event

Leading Collectively: Advancing Leadership in Anesthesia Care (Part 1)

About this event

Leading an anesthesiology team demands patience, strong communication and effective teamwork. Yet, according to the Joint Commission, failures in communication and teamwork remain among the top causes of reported sentinel events. To ensure high-quality patient care and minimize adverse events, anesthesiology leaders must develop the skills necessary to quickly build trust and foster collaboration. But what does that truly require?

In part one of this webinar series, Dr. Matthew Sherrer, director of care team collaboration in the University of Alabama at Birmingham Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine, will explore the critical role of leadership within anesthesiology teams. He will introduce the concept of collective intelligence and examine related frameworks such as teaming and the mutual learning mindset – all through the lens of improving healthcare team performance.
