Illinois Medicaid Updates - PHE Unwinding, IMPACT, MEDI, MCO Care Gap Reports and More

Join ISMS’ webinar for an update on billing and care for Medicaid patients. Representatives from the Department of Healthcare and Family Services and Illinois Association of Medicaid Health Plans will provide updates on:

  • The anticipated impact of the end to special policies allowed during the public health emergency;
  • Ensuring health professional IMPACT registration remains active;
  • Checking MEDI for patient eligibility; and
  • Care Gap reports available through MCO portals.

About the presenters:

Lauren Polite - Analyst, Medicaid Eligibility and Managed Care (HFS), IL Department of Healthcare and Family Services

Lauren Polite works on both eligibility and managed care issues for the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services. She started with HFS in 2013 to help support the roll-out of Illinois' Medicaid expansion under the Affordable Care Act. Since 2016 she has also worked with the Bureau of Managed Care responsible for the administration and regulatory compliance of the Medicaid Managed Care program.

Anthony "Tony" Kolbeck - Bureau Chief, Hospital & Provider Services, IL Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS)

Tony Kolbeck recently (June 2022) joined the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services as the Hospital and Provider Services Bureau Chief where he is responsible for the provider enrollment section.

Trisha Rodriquez - Director of Public Policy & Government Relations, Illinois Association of Medicaid Health Plans (IAMHP)

As Director of Public Policy and Government Relations, Trisha leads IAMHP’s work in executing legislative strategies; formulating healthcare policy that enhances the Medicaid experience for consumers; and developing best practices for improving health plan operations, healthcare quality and accessibility, and provider relations.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  • Describe the anticipated end of the Public Health Emergency (PHE), the impact on providers and Medicaid customers, including how to help Medicaid patients update their address ahead of time so they receive renewal forms and other information to maintain coverage once the PHE ends.
  • Insure provider IMPACT registration remains active
  • Recognize the importance of checking MEDI for patient's eligibility, MCO and renewal dates
  • Identify what is provided in member Care Gap reports found in the MCO provider portals
