Jamie's Farm invites you to their event

What's possible when we 'Power Up' pastoral staff?

About this event

Pastoral staff are some of the most important people in determining how young people experience the school system. Their roles mean they hold trusted relationships with hundreds of children and their families; acting as a key link between school and home. The work pastoral teams do is often intensely emotionally challenging and their high quality support can vastly improve impact outcomes for children facing the most challenging circumstances, yet these support staff are often under-resourced and underinvested in, with little consistent professional development across the sector.

This webinar will share insights from Power Up Pastoral, an innovative and collaborative national CPD programme for pastoral support staff, created by mission aligned charities: The Centre for Emotional Health, Jamie’s Farm, Football Beyond Borders, AllChild and Reach Foundation.

The panel discussion will explore how school leaders can unlock the full potential of pastoral support staff. Drawing on perspectives from pastoral staff, school leaders and some of the charities behind the Power Up Pastoral CPD programme, the session will highlight the challenges, opportunities, and impact of investing in this essential workforce. Panellists will share practical insights from the Power Up Pastoral programme and examples to help schools elevate, empower, and better integrate pastoral teams to ensure children and their families lead lives of choice and opportunity.

Chaired by Jake Curtis (Co-CEO of Jamie's Farm), the panel will include:

  • Rebecca McGuinn (Lead for Safeguarding Behaviour & Wellbeing), Charlotte Brady and Justina Suttle (Power Up Pastoral Participants), Ebor Academy Trust, York
  • Jen Burniston (Deputy Headteacher and DSL) and Safa Nafi (Power Up Pastoral Participant), Highgate Wood, London
  • Harriet Farnham (Football Beyond Borders)
  • Verity Howorth (Reach Foundation)

This webinar is ideal for school and Multi Academy Trust leaders and others interested in whole school approaches to pastoral support.
