Ricard Esparza holds a bachelor (4-year programme) in Economics by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, two MSc in Specialised Economic Analysis (Major in Innovation Economics) by the Barcelona Graduate School of Economics and the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, and a PhD in Business Economics (specialisation in innovation policy) by the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. He works as an expert for several European and international governments and institutions. He has undertaken works linked to research in the field of innovation policy, with a large range of collaborations and contracts with several institutions worldwide, in more than 30 countries in 6 continents, including the European Commission, the World Bank, the Government of Peru, the Government of Catalonia, and other EU and foreign national and regional governments and agencies. Additionally, he is an int. professor in economics at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, has participated in over 15 European and international R&D projects in collaboration with over 100 partners in the EU and worldwide, and published in top journals in the field of regional science and innovation policy.
