The void left by Angela Merkel’s political departure, has led to an intense speculation about her potential successor. The main candidates have been subject to an unprecedented scrutiny by the media. On top of that, the COVID-19 pandemic and the tragic floods which have recently hit the country, certainly will have some impact on Germans’ electoral intentions.
