About this event
Over the recent years, highly modified binders (HiMA) have seen increasing adoption in asphalt pavement applications throughout North America and around the world with more than 5MM tons of asphalt mix paved.
A growing number of states including Alaska, Florida, Oklahoma and Virginia have successfully adopted this non-proprietary technology, resulting in substantial benefits including increased resistance to cracking and rutting, as well as reduced life cycle pavement cost.
As a testament to HiMA’s value in the industry, earlier this year the US Federal Highway Administration featured the technology as a part of the Every Day Counts: Targeted Overlay Pavement Solutions initiative that identifies and deploys proven, yet underutilized innovations.
Whether HiMA is new to your organization or you are an active adopter, Kraton would like to invite you to a virtual discussion covering:
✅ How HiMA’s innovative polymer network provides protection against most major pavement distresses
✅ The life cycle cost and sustainability advantage of building pavements with HiMA
✅ Examples of projects where HiMA provided long-lasting value
👍 Register above ⬆️⬆️⬆️! We look forward to seeing you at the event!
Meet the discussion panel:
Dr. Bob Kluttz
Senior Scientist, Kraton
Bob Kluttz oversaw the early development and implementation of HiMA technology. He was involved in designing the Kraton D0243 polymer that enables HiMA and was a key coordinator of the first full scale pavement test section at the National Center for Asphalt Technology Test Track in Opelika, Alabama in 2009. Since then Bob has successfully promoted the use of HiMA in the United States and abroad by providing technical assistance related to binder formulation, mix production and pavement modeling. In addition, he is active in AAPT, TRB, the Asphalt Institute, AMAP, ASTM International, and the ASTM/AASHTO Harmonization Task Force.
Mr. Gary Fitts, PE
Market Development Manager, Kraton
Gary Fitts is a registered professional engineer in Texas with expertise in the broad field of asphalt pavements. Over his career, he has been directly involved in pavement evaluation and design, pavement materials selection, construction methods and specifications, pavement research, troubleshooting, and providing educational and promotional services for the asphalt industry. Since 2018, Mr. Fitts has been actively involved in promoting and developing HiMA technology in various markets across the United States.
Meet the moderator:
Mr. Sebastian Puchalski
Global Market Manager, Kraton
Sebastian Puchalski has been involved in supporting the HiMA technology since 2013 by providing field and laboratory support. Since 2019 Mr. Puchalski is active in marketing the HiMA technology.
