About this event
About this webinar
Learn how to explore the "insides" of websites and extract information from them. A lot of tech companies rely on Web scraping to fill their databases with publicly accessible information: price comparators, travel aggregators. Scraping is widely used in marketing for market research or customer feedback analysis. Data scientists and business intelligence specialists will use scraping to build datasets and crunch numbers. Not to mention that Google's business was built on crawling and indexing the Web.
In this workshop, we use Python, the Beautiful Soup scraping library, and an interactive Jupyter notebook to show you the basics of web scraping in a step-by-step tutorial. You are free to take home the resulting code and adjust it for your purposes.
Some experience with Python will come handy, but is not necessary — basic programming concepts will be explained in an accessible hands-on manner.
Format
This webinar will start with a 1-hour lecture to introduce the core concepts. You will then be onboarded on Le Wagon e-learning plateform and access the slides, a sum-up of key notions as well as exercices to keep practice after the webinar.
Pre-requisite
You will need some basic knowledges in Python as this is a more advanced workshop.
