Telemedicine is uncharted territory for many of us in Chinese Medicine. In addition to these unstable times, many of us are now put into another uncomfortable situation of working from home and not using our needles. There are many unknowns, but what we do know is we love practicing this medicine and we love our patients. Luckily, there is so much we can do beyond needles. About Our Speaker:
Dr. Lamya Kamel, L.Ac, DIPL. OM, MSTOM, DAOM, Director of Acupuncture
Lamya is NCCAOM certified in Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine, and Traditional Oriental Medicine. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Scripps College in Chemistry and Physics, a Master of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine and Doctorate of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from Pacific College of Health and Sciences. While completing her doctorate she conducted and published original research on the role of integrating acupuncture and chiropractic medicine to treat chronic pain. She is the Director of Acupuncture at Aligned Modern Health where she trains and hires a team of full-time acupuncturists and herbalist to treat at their 17 clinics. She is also an Associate Professor at Pacific College of Health and Sciences in their Doctoral Program and the Chair of the Department of Professional Practice for the Chicago campus. She has been a member of the Illinois Society for Acupuncture (ILSA) for over ten years serving as both the Vice-President and President, promoting awareness of the medicine and protecting the rights of Acupuncturists in Illinois. She has spent the last 4 years as a Subject Matter Expert for the NCCAOM writing questions for the national boards. Her clinical interests range from treating pain, digestive health, neurological disorders, mental health, women’s health, infertility, as well as maternity and post-partum care. In her free time, she enjoys rollerblading, playing basketball, doing crossword puzzles, and spending time with her wife, son Rumi and her nephews.
