RedTalks #1 (season 2): A macro view of the tumoral microenvironment

For the RedTalk#1 of the season 2, we are delighted to welcome Pr. Karin Tarte.

Pr. Karin Tarte, CHU de Rennes, Université de Rennes 1, UMR_1236

Publication: Immunity

Pr. Karin Tarte will review stromal cell landscape in follicular lymphoma (FL).

FL is the most frequent indolent lymphoma, evolving over decades before clinical manifestation, and characterized by iterative cycles of remissions/relapses associated with extensive subclonal dynamic. FL is the paradigm of a neoplasia fully dependent on a complex microenvironment network that coevolves with tumor B cells to create a tumor supportive niche.

Karin Tarte and her team try to better characterize this protumoral niches within invaded lymph nodes and bone marrow, with a specific interest for cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAF). Through extensive in vitro, ex vivo, and in situ characterization, their objective is to decipher how FL-CAF support FL tumor growth, how they acquire their tumor-supportive function, and whether targeting the bidirectional crosstalk between tumor B cells and stromal cells would provide ways to improve clinical behavior in this still fatal malignancy.

We're also pleased to welcome great moderators with David Chiron, CRCI Nantes-Angers and Wendy Béguelin, Weill Cornell Medicine, NY.
