About this event
In summer 2022 the German federal government introduced a nearly free public transport ticket in response to a rapid increase in consumer and energy prices. At only 9 Euros per month for three months in a row, anyone can buy a ticket, which is valid for all regional and local public transport around the whole of Germany. These measures created an unprecedented natural transportation experiment that can help answer many questions about passenger behavior. Among others is “Does low-priced public transport enhance green mobility?”
In order to find answers to these questions, our guest speakers from the Technical University of Munich (TUM) launched the Mobilität.Leben project. As research tools, the study uses a three-wave survey, an analysis of traffic counts and public transport ridership, and a travel diary application built by MOTIONTAG.
