Meet the panelists

Alice Ruhnke, GrantStation

Alice Ruhnke is the President of GrantStation. Having raised over $45 million from federal, state, and private grantmakers, she knows what it takes to get funded. As a former nonprofit program coordinator and director, and the Founder of The Grant Advantage, Alice has a deep understanding of the challenges that nonprofits face. Over the last 20 years, she's worked in the trenches with hundreds of nonprofit organizations to improve their capacity to raise funds.

DeaRonda Harrison, June First Firm

DeaRonda Harrison is the founder and President of June First Firm, a grant writing firm specializing in assisting black-led nonprofits onboard and train their current grant writing team reducing burnout, turnover, and lack of support. DeaRonda knows and understands too well why quality grant professionals are leaving nonprofits in droves and wants to be a support system to properly train and onboard those new to the industry as well as more seasoned professionals. She works as a partner with the nonprofit to lay the foundation for reasonable expectations among the entire team. 

Shavonn Richardson, Think and Ink Grant Consulting

Shavonn Richardson, MBA, GPC is the Founder of Think and Ink Grants® and has 18 years of experience as a grant writer, nonprofit leader, and federal grants reviewer. Shavonn served as a nonprofit leader and co-founded the 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization Blue Flowers Org in 2014. She worked as a Corporate Social Responsibility Program Manager for the Bank of America Foundation, where she helped distribute $1.3 million in grants and sponsorships to Atlanta nonprofits each year. Now she gets grants for her clients at Think and Ink Grant Consulting and has successfully leveraged over $25 million in funding. Shavonn serves on the Board of Directors for the Grant Professionals Association (GPA). Shavonn is one of less than 450 grant professionals nationwide to earn the GPC (Grant Professional Certified) credential and is a GPA Approved Trainer. Shavonn earned a BBA from Howard University and an MBA from Emory University.

Amanda Day, Dickerson Bakker

Amanda Day is a Grants Consultant at Dickerson Bakker. She is a certified grant professional (GPC) with 20 years of experience, specializing in federal and state grant funding for local governments and nonprofits. A trainer, speaker, and podcast cohost with experience, stories, and information to share with nonprofits, local governments, and other organizations looking to improve their grant proposal writing and management skills.
