Their Name in Lights: Donor Appreciation Best Practices

About this event

A Round of Applause!

It takes two to tango - as they say. The same is true when we talk about nonprofit success. Another vital piece that contributes to a nonprofit organization's success is its donors. Let's hear it for our donors! How can we show them our love and appreciation? Find out more as we tackle some great ways on how nonprofits can give back to their donors.

Meet the Panelists

John Cochran, Director of Sales at Eleven Fifty Seven

Eleven Fifty Seven is a woman-owned & led team of storytelling signage professionals. John Cochran, the Director of Sales, collaborates with nonprofit organizations across the country serving as a subject matter expert in the strategy, design, fabrication, and installation of projects such as donor recognition and environmental branding.

Erica Waasdorp, President at A Direct Solution

Erica lives and breathes direct response and fundraising and can be considered a Philanthropyholic.

She works with non-profit clients all over the country as well as internationally, helping them with their appeals and monthly giving. She is also the former US Ambassador for the International Fundraising Congress (IFC), www.resource-alliance.org.

Erica Waasdorp published two books on monthly giving: The Sleeping Giant, published in 2012 and Monthly Giving Made Easy, a How-To Guide, published in May of 2021. She created the Monthly Donor Road Map and several e-books including the Monthly Donor Retention Play Book and many other resources. Erica is an AFP Master Trainer, and she regularly blogs and presents in person or virtually on appeals, direct mail, and monthly giving.

Torey Greenwald, Principal at RecognitionArt

Growing up in the fundraising community with her parents having served on many nonprofit boards, Torey developed a passion for the industry at a young age.

As the spokesperson for the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile and traveling the country, she witnessed the full extent a visual connection can have emotionally on a person. This understanding has been a driving force behind what she and her colleagues create at RecognitionArt for each individual client. “We don't ‘copy/cut/paste’ designs and slap an organization's name at the top; we dive deep and learn the ins and outs of what makes a nonprofit special and the ripples of positivity it makes through its work.”

With a background in the arts and communication, Torey gets excited with each and every opportunity that arises knowing that she has the privilege to aid their clients' successes in financial growth to continue their mission.
