The functionality of nanomaterials relies on the dynamic atomic structure, which strongly correlates to a physical or chemical stimulus. The systematic understanding of the mechanisms and energetics involved when atoms or small clusters diffuse over surfaces is of vital fundamental and technological interest. Specifically, probing and quantifying the complex surface dynamics temporally and atomically will deepen our knowledge of the sustainable development of new materials and catalytic processes.
During this webinar, Dr. Pei Liu will present observations of various types of surface dynamics on a model Au / CeO2 system under different conditions relating to the surrounding atmosphere and temperature. She will discuss different types of reversible and concerted atom diffusion on Au nanoparticle surfaces and the motion of the nanoparticles on the oxide support, including the kinetics of these surface dynamics. Furthermore, she will share her experiences of using two advanced methods for image data quantifications:
We invite you to join this webinar to explore the probing and quantifying of atomic scale surface dynamics, and learn how our Wildfire system can take your research to the next level.
