About this event
Description: The Synod around Synodality took place around the world from 2021-2024 in discussions to learn how the Church can walk and listen to each other. After many years of discussion, the final document serving as the international response was published and promoted around the world. Julia McStravog, one of the USCCB's leaders in the United States's responses, is speaking to us to discuss trends, information, and reports from the synod. She will also discuss some questions to ask for reflection for our leaders on how to be a more synodal church in our parishes and dioceses, carrying on the work that was done to prepare for the synod.
Julia McStravog is the Senior Advisor for the Synod at the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), co-leading USCCB’s 3-year consultative process for the XVI Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops, which is now in its implementation stage. She has a ThD in Catholic Studies with a focus on the Theology of Dialogue from La Salle University; her dissertation was titled “Dialogue Fearlessly: The Catholic Church’s Theological Key to Fostering and Safeguarding Human Dignity in Our Time.” She also has an MA in Interreligious Dialogue from Catholic Theological Union at Chicago, and a BA in Theology from Marymount University. She is a member of the National Council of Synagogues-USCCB Jewish-Catholic Dialogue. Julia previously worked in Programs on Ethics, Religion, and the Holocaust at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and the Secretariat for Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs at USCCB.
