In this presentation MPC Episodic Executive VFX Supervisor Pete Jopling, VFX Supervisor Oliver Winwood and 2D Supervisor Izet Buco will reveal their compositing work on Sky / HBO’s The Third Day. The presentation will cover the creative and technical achievement behind the Locust swarm scene, in which a swarm of 50 million locusts swarm over Osea covering the entire Island and beyond. As well as creating this crowd of bugs the scene also required a complex stitch to seamlessly blend two very different environment plates together.

Oliver began his career at MPC in 2005 as a Data and Render Wrangler and Digital Resource Manager. Now, with more than fifteen years of experience, he is an award-winning Supervisor and has worked on blockbuster hits like The Jungle Book, Guardians of the Galaxy and World War Z.
Izet Buco has worked as a 2D Supervisor and artist on more than 50 major movies, including the award-winning 1917 and the Sky/HBO series The Third Day. Prior to this, Izet worked as a Lead Compositor on Disney's The Lion King, Thor Ragnarok and Wonder Woman.
After more than twenty years working in the film and VFX industry, Pete Jopling joined MPC as an Executive VFX Supervisor in 2019. Pete has worked on hit-TV shows and films such as Sky/HBO’s Chernobyl, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, Lord of the Rings and the Harry Potter franchise.
