  I specialize in road traffic and transport legislation. I started out as a public prosecutor, focusing on drunken/ reckless/negligent driving cases. In 1999 I founded “Alta Swanepoel & Associates CC”.I have consulted government organizations in South Africa, Botswana, Jamaica, Zimbabwe and Namibia and various transport agencies such as SANRAL, the RTMC, CBRTA and RTIA in South Africa and the Development Bank of Jamaica, ZINARA in Zimbabwe and the Ministries of Transport in Swaziland and Botswana. I appointed as the secretariat of the TCSP (technical committee for standards and procedures of traffic control and traffic control equipment) and as special prosecutor in overload control cases. The committee drafted the prosecution guidelines for mass measuring, speed and breath alcohol equipment. I am a contributing author to the Road Traffic & Road Transport Legislation Volumes published by Lexis Nexis and has been a part-time lecturer at the University of Johannesburg 1992.
